Total Certainty
We specialize in providing high-resolution data for pipelines that conventional tools simply can’t handle. By utilizing advanced Remote Field Technology (RFT), our pipeline inspections identify wall loss and pitting through internal scale, liners, and heavy deposits. Our assessments ensure your systems remain operational while eliminating the guesswork of traditional maintenance.
While Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) has been the industry standard for decades, it often fails when faced with internal scale or non-metallic liners. Russell NDE bridges this gap by deploying RFT tools that navigate sensitive environments without the need for aggressive cleaning. This allows for thorough pipeline inspections of cement, HDPE, and epoxy-lined pipes without the risk of damaging the asset, liner or the instrumentation.
Our versatility is unmatched, offering both tethered modes for short-range precision and free-swimming configurations for distances up to 30 km. Whether dealing with low-flow oil lines or multiple-diameter configurations, our tools are designed to move with minimal differential pressure. From 2” (50mm) to 8.25’ (2.5m) pipe diameter, we provide a comprehensive look at your pipeline integrity where others see only obstacles.
“The RFT tool provided highly accurate, extremely useful information.”
WaterOne, Kansas City talking about the PICA’s 30-inch inspection results.
“So far, in the two condition assessment projects that we have used the SeeSnake, we have spent less than 5% of the pipe replacement cost using this technology. In return we have saved at least 65% of the pipe replacement cost by only replacing and rehabilitating those sections of the pipe that really needed it.”
Engineering Manager, Mount Pleasant Waterworks.
“Just wanted to let you know that we exposed pipe 7340 this morning and found the defect exactly where you said it would be. It was so thin that they punched a hole in it just cleaning off the dirt.“
City of Raymore
Because our RFT tools are significantly longer than standard MFL pigs, we can often extend the length of existing launchers and receivers, minimizing the civil work required for site setup.
Yes. For pipes up to 914mm (36”) diameter Our free-swimming tools are designed to operate in live flow conditions for water, waste-water and raw water pipelines. For O&G and other pipelines, we prefer to run in water, condensate or diesel at controlled flow rates.
We perform a detailed geometry review before deployment. Our tools feature soft centralizers and high clearance ratios specifically designed to collapse and bypass internal debris or bore restrictions.
Critical flaws are identified during the preliminary field review (we strive for 48 hours). A comprehensive, localized analysis—including high-resolution mapping of all defects—is typically delivered within two to eight weeks (depends on pipe length).
We provide data in standard formats that interface with most Pipeline Integrity Management (PIM) systems, allowing you to overlay our results with previous cathodic protection or GIS data.
